On Friday, June 9, 2023, Mater Christi School celebrated the 34 graduates in our Class of 2023. Students and their families joined faculty and staff gathered in the Chapel of the Sacred Heart for Mass with Fr. Michael Carter, SSE. We reflected on the significance of our graduates’ accomplishments and prayed for their bright futures. We thank Mary Farley, Lisa Raatikainen, and Jeff Firlik for leading our music.

Following Mass, the graduation ceremony celebrated our graduates’ achievements, highlighted by captivating performances, dedications, and heartfelt remarks.

William Cunningham and Megan Marroquin opened the ceremony, extending their warmest welcome and capturing the essence of the graduates’ journey — a shared experience filled with triumphs, challenges, and the unwavering support of their loved ones.

Next, Jack Griffin performed a beautiful arrangement of “Amazing Grace” by John Newton, on the piano.

The Class History was shared by Raxa Tariyal, Xavier Fuller, Isabella Walsh, Riley Dunn, Jack Webb, and Treyson Kelley. The students and their families enjoyed special memories, laughter, and a sense of shared accomplishment.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kris Koehne and Ben Hershey for their hard work in creating the incredible video “My favorite MCS moment” and the captivating slideshow for our students. Their efforts have undoubtedly enriched the experiences of our students, and for that, we are sincerely grateful. Thank you, Kris Koehne and Ben Hershey, for your remarkable contributions and for going above and beyond to make our school community even more special.

Celeste H. performed Gabriel Marie’s “La Cinquantaine”  on her cello, to the audience’s delight. Lila Hershey then sang “Oceans” by Hillsong United, reminding us that amidst life’s uncertainties, faith and courage will guide us.
