Catholic Schools Week at Mater Christi School: Faith, Service, and Community

January 31, 2026

Catholic Schools Week at Mater Christi School was a joyful and faith-filled celebration of Catholic education, community, and service. Throughout the week, students, faculty, and families came together to pray, serve, and celebrate what makes Catholic education so meaningful. At Mater Christi School, our mission is rooted in the belief that every child is created with dignity and purpose, and Catholic Schools Week provided many opportunities to live out those values in visible and joyful ways.

Central to our Catholic identity is the understanding of Imago Dei, a Latin term meaning “image of God.” We believe the image of God is present in every student, and this belief guides how we educate and nurture each child. Catholic education at Mater Christi School goes beyond academics. We intentionally form students’ values, character, and faith while creating a supportive environment where each child is known, valued, and loved. This commitment was reflected throughout the week, from welcoming Bishop McDermott for a school Mass to collecting cans for our local food shelf as an act of service and compassion. Joyful traditions such as “Buddy Bingo” strengthened connections across grade levels and reminded us why Catholic education matters: it shapes hearts, minds, and faith for a lifetime.
