May Crowning 2025

May 6, 2025

On Friday, May 2, 2025, we at Mater Christi School celebrated our annual May Crowning, a beloved Catholic tradition honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. This special event brought together our students, faculty, and families in prayer, reflection, and celebration of Mary’s love and devotion.

We began the day with a beautiful school-wide Mass, officiated by Father Michael Carter, S.S.E., of St. Michael’s Edmundite community. Our first graders, from Mrs. Carrie Macedonia’s and Miss Sarah Bassett’s classes, confidently led the opening parts of Mass — an important leadership opportunity that helps them grow in confidence, faith, and responsibility.

After Mass, we all gathered outside around the statue of the Virgin Mary for the crowning ceremony, led by our eighth graders. One of the most special moments of the morning was when Agnes Nguyen, an eighth grader, had the honor of placing the floral crown on the Blessed Mother. Together, we prayed the Hail Mary and the Angelus, filling the outdoor space with reverence, unity, and gratitude.

At Mater Christi, we are proud to give students at every grade level the opportunity to grow spiritually and emotionally. Our first graders worked hard to prepare, learning Catholic rituals, practicing prayers, and deepening their understanding of their identity as children of God. Meanwhile, our eighth graders stepped confidently into leadership roles, modeling faith, maturity, and devotion for the younger students.

We are so proud of all our students for their preparation, participation, and reverence during this meaningful celebration — a true reflection of our Mater Christi mission to nurture hearts, minds, and spirits.
