Mater Christi School eighth grader Hanna Schold was recently awarded Second Place in Region Two in the 2024 Hildene Lincoln Essay Competition. Hanna was one of 211 applicants from throughout Vermont to submit an essay about the potential impacts of AI on a wide variety of fields, in response to this year’s prompt. Hanna’s essay explained why the risks of AI on music writing outweigh the benefits, with a focus on the human connection and artistry.
According to Hildene’s website, “For the past seventeen years, Hildene has administered the Lincoln Essay Competition informed by our mission: Values into Action. Using Abraham Lincoln’s legacy as touchstone, Hildene seeks to inspire young people to tackle important issues, underscoring the responsibility each of us has to help make our world a better place.”
Congratulations, Hanna!
