MCS celebrated Red Nose Day today at an action packed school wide assembly. Red Nose Day is an international effort which raises money for impoverished children all around the world. When we decided to participate in the effort, we wanted our efforts to impact our immediate community and “have a ball” while we did it. Basketball performer, Ilze Luneau from “The Basketball Family” entertained the audience with her unique basketball dribbling, juggling and spinning tricks. Ilze has appeared on ESPN, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and The Ellen Degeneres Show. Ilze also spoke to the students about setting goals, working hard, and never giving up.
Students and staff were asked to bring in at least one toiletry or personal hygiene item for Joseph’s House in Burlington and in exchange will each be given a red nose. Joseph’s House helps individuals and families with a variety of needs in emergency situations during difficult times in their lives. Thank you to all of our students and families for donating items. We collected a lot!
Additionally, we would like to thank the following: Ilze Luneau from “The Basketball Family” for her amazing basketball tricks, Eyes on the World in Burlington for sponsoring our red noses, Al Getler and the Burlington Free Press for including MCS in this event, Susan Holson from Twincraft Skincare for donating over 300 bars of soap for Joseph’s House, and lastly Chelsea Beauregard, MCS Alumna and Executive Director at Joseph’s House, for coming and educating us about the organization.
