Students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 Perform the Musical, “Captain Louie Jr.”

November 25, 2014

Thirty nine Mater Christi School students from kindergarten through grade eight performed the musical, “Captain Louie Jr.”, to a delighted audience of family and friends on Thursday, November 20th. Ms Kristen King, coordinator of drama at MCS, directed the play.

“Captain Louie Jr.” is about friendship—the ability to make new friends and the importance of old ones.  The play was adapted from the popular children’s book, “The Trip” written by Ezra Jack Keats. The music and lyrics were composed by the creator of “Wicked,” Stephen Schwartz. Some of the musical numbers featured in the play were “Trick or Treat,” “New Kid in the Neighborhood,” and “Big Red Plane.”

With melodies like these, we have a suspicion that many audience members left the MCS auditorium humming!
