On June 6, we welcomed Monsignor McDermott to celebrate a special Mass at Mater Christi School. Our school community gathered to honor the students who had received their First Holy Communion during the year, our Grade 2 students.
Our second grade students led Mass, guided by Ms. McClellan. The First Communicants came dressed in the clothes that they had worn for their First Communion Masses in their parishes: white dresses with veils, and suits and ties. Mass concluded with the entire community singing “Our God is an Awesome God.”
A reception followed the Mass for the second graders and their families who had attended the ceremony.
