2026 Robert Howe Fire Safety Calendar Contest Winner

We are thrilled to announce that third grade student Arya Hamidzadeh, who lives in Colchester and Huntington, has earned 1st Place and the calendar cover selection in the 2026 Robert Howe Fire Safety Calendar Contest, hosted by the Vermont Division of Fire Safety. This year, 13 schools across Vermont submitted 382 pieces of artwork, all created by third grade students. The pieces were evaluated by more than 90 voting participants, who judged each entry on accuracy, creativity, and how effectively the artwork communicated monthly fire safety themes. On Tuesday, November 11th, students in 5B hosted a prayer service paying tribute to veterans. The fifth graders enthusiastically outlined the origins of Veterans Day, connecting the values and actions of those individuals who have served our country to the messages of faith and devotion found in the Gospels. A slide presentation displayed each student's journey of reflection, as they visited different veterans memorials in our local communities. Latin is a window into the study of ancient language, thought, and traditions. It is the goal of Mater Christi’s Latin program to offer students a broad foundation in four key areas of this classical study: basic mastery of the Latin language, fundamental principles of grammar (in Latin and English), cultural knowledge, and linguistic connections between Latin and English.
