Makai Yerkes

Physical Education Teacher

I am from the Boston area. In high school I ran track and cross country and was a volunteer coach for a running club for young adults with different disabilities. Prior to starting college I took a gap year, during that time I enrolled in an Outward Bound leadership semester. During that time I built a dog sled and went dog sledding through the Boundary Waters of Minnesota for a month. I then traveled to Texas where I went backpacking through Big Bend National Park and canoeing on the Rio as well as rock climbing.  After my gap year I enrolled in classes at The University Of Vermont, while at UVM I joined the club football team and played on the team for two seasons. In the spring of 2023 I completed my degree in K-12 Physical Education. I strongly believe that a student can learn and grow just as much in the gym as they would in the classroom.
