Early Education
Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten (Ages 3 and 4)
The Mater Christi early education program is an entry point to our school and the beginning of a foundation built upon the education and formation of the whole child. In our early education program, students experience a nurturing environment centered on the development of well-being, the forming of friendships, the excitement of learning, and the opportunity to discover the wonder of our world.
Because young children learn best through play, our early education program is play-based. By facilitating play, we are encouraging learning in the eight domains of the Vermont Early Learning Standards. These eight domains are:
- Approaches to Learning
- Social and Emotional Development
- Language, Literacy, and Communication
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Creative Expression
- Physical Health and Development
Our program has a daily routine of circle time and morning meeting, centers, creative movement, book time, prayer time, free play, outdoor time, music, creative/artistic expression, and rest time.
