Tricia Finkle

Makerspace Teacher

Tricia is a Licensed Middle School Science, Social Studies and Math teacher. She brings to the classroom industrial experience as a Development Chemist. Her teaching experience includes teaching positions at both public and private schools in Vermont serving preschool, elementary, middle and high school students in technology, math and science. From 2007 until 2017,  Tricia was the Co-Director of the Vermont State Science and Math Fair, through which she founded two teacher professional development programs; Teacher’s Day in Industry and the Wildcat Inventors workshop have served over 1,000 students and 80 teachers across Vermont.

Tricia grew up in rural New York State and attained Associates and Bachelor Degrees in Chemistry from New York state colleges. She worked in industry developing engineering materials, including superconducting ceramic wire for the Navy’s Silent Sub program. Upon leaving industry in 1997, she entered education as the Technology teacher at Lawrence Barnes Elementary School, receiving a Masters degree and teaching license from UVM in 2001. After a student teaching internship at CVU, Tricia taught Math and Science for several years at Winooski Middle School and several more teaching just science at Mater Christi. Tricia left teaching at MCS for almost a decade to raise a family, and returned to MCS as the Makerspace Integrationist in 2015.

Hobbies
I love hacking and making, camping, doing jigsaw puzzles and reading.
