I was born in Boston and grew up in a loving, caring, supportive family on Boston’s South Shore. I attended a grade Catholic school through 8th grade, Boston College High School, a Jesuit high school in Dorchester, MA and St. Michael’s College for my undergraduate degree in History and Secondary Education, and my graduate degree in Theology and Pastoral Ministry.
I met my wife, Christina, when she was a student at Trinity College and we were blessed by our friendship with the Sisters of Mercy. Their dedication to service, justice, peace and mercy inspired us, and we decided that we wanted to partner with these women of the Gospel to do our part in bringing Mercy to a world in need. We have been Mercy Associates for over 15 years now and we have been incredibly enriched and shaped by our commitment to living Mercy–a commitment that seems, when looking at the challenges of our world, more important than ever.
My entire career has been in education and ministry. I am very excited to be returning to Mater Christi and look forward to partnering with gifted colleagues, dedicated parents, and dynamic, creative, compassionate students. Early in my career, I taught in the middle school at MCS for three years, and then my career took a different path as I felt called to served as a campus minister at St. Michael’s College, my alma mater. I served the St. Michael’s College community for nine years and helped lead retreats, interfaith experiences, and domestic and international service trips for students, faculty and staff. While at St. Michael’s, I was privileged to give back to the Sisters of Mercy and continue my relationship with Mater Christi as a member of the Board of Trustees, where I served as the chair of the Mission Effectiveness committee.
My family and I are returning to Vermont after three years in Danvers, MA where I was part of a team that helped launch a middle school program at St. John’s Prep, a Catholic, all boys 6-12 school on the North Shore of Boston. I served as a religious studies teacher and campus minister for the young men at St. John’s Prep, and although I thoroughly enjoyed this work, Vermont kept calling us to come home.
We are excited to be back in Vermont and I am honored to serve the Mater Christi community as a teacher and as the Director of Spiritual and Religious Life. I look forward to collaborating with all members of the MCS community to advance the mission of our school and the Sisters of Mercy. May we be blessed in our shared efforts to help all students know that they are “light for the world,” and “salt for the earth.”
Best Mater Christi Moment: Helping to facilitate and lead 7th and 8th grade field trips, and having the yearbook dedicated to me.
