Congratulations to the Mater Christi School 7/8 boys’ and girls’ basketball teams who competed in the CYO tournament on Sunday, March 13 at Rice Memorial High School. Our 7/8 girls played an amazing game and won their championship game against St. Pius X, earning the chance to play in the New England CYO tournament. Led by Coach Mert Sells and Assistant Coach Tim George, the girls played an excellent season and we are very proud of their consistent hard work and dedication. Earlier this year, the MCS 7/8 girls team also won the annual Westford Winter Jam, a small tournament with four 7/8 girls teams and tour 7/8 boys teams who participated.

Our 7/8 boys earned a 2nd place trophy overall and also earned a spot in the upcoming New England tournament as the Vermont Catholic school team representative. In a hard-fought, over-time game in the semi-final round, our 5/6 boys lost a heart-breaker in the final minutes.

We are so proud of the way in which all of our players conducted themselves while representing Mater Christi School.
