With the help from MCS alumni, current parent and local artist, Jenny Larkin, the second grade students made special place mats for Thanksgiving.

After printing one to two sentences in which they expressed their gratitude for some of the gifts they experience every day in their lives, the students carefully traced leaf patterns. Next, Mrs. Larkin showed the students in groups how to use watercolors. The students carefully added to their designs by painting in the traditional autumn shades of orange, red, yellow, green and brown. Their work was absolutely beautiful. The place mats will be laminated so that the students can bring them home for Thanksgiving.
