Teacher Talk: Labyrinth

January 1, 1970

In their seventh-grade religion class, students are exploring the nature, purpose, and need for prayer. Walking a labyrinth reflects the richness of our Catholic tradition of listening for God’s wisdom in prayer and mediation. With chalk in hand, Students took advantage of the opportunity to personally engage in the prayer and meditation by first drawing and then entering the labyrinth reverently.

The meditation activity took place on a sunny day on Mater Christi’s beautiful campus. Students walked to the center of the labyrinth to seek God’s wisdom. They paused in the center while listening for God’s voice. Then, they walked out of the labyrinth carrying peace and God’s wisdom back out into the world.
