Guidance Counseling
The role of Guidance within the Mater Christi community is to foster a positive and healthy school climate as well as advocating for students struggling with social and emotional problems. Our full-time guidance counselor serves students Pre-School through Grade 8 with periodic visits to the classrooms to implement lessons about social thinking, character education, and anti-bullying activities to promote tolerance.
Students are able to go to the Guidance office on an individual basis as well. Considering the varied range of developmental stages, it is important to teach students different strategies for a wide range of issues common among children and adolescents. There is an opportunity to help students build stronger social skills by practicing turn taking, using manners, and gaining a greater awareness of their own person space through Lunch Bunches.
Confidentiality in accordance with FERPA laws (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) will be maintained in all communications and correspondence with Mater Christi School students and families.
