Spirituality

We are committed to our mission as an independent Catholic school,  a sponsored ministry of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, and is a member of Mercy Education. We celebrate, appreciate and value the diverse faith backgrounds and spiritual paths of our students, their families, and our faculty and staff, and believe that diversity is a strength and a blessing. We are an inclusive and welcoming community, and more than half of our student population is not Catholic and represents a variety of faiths and belief systems.

A Mater Christi education is a values-centered education and we reflect on our school’s Core Values of Spiritual Growth and Development, Personal and Educational Excellence, Concern for Human Dignity, Global Vision and Responsibility, Compassion and Service, and Collaboration each year.  In addition, each grade, beginning with Kindergarten, focuses on a virtue/theme that is cultivated and reflected upon throughout the academic year.  The virtues are: Befriend, Listen, Respect, Care, Persevere, Trust, Encourage, Serve, Lead and Appreciate.

We are dedicated to ensuring that our students grow in spiritual wellness as we seek to nurture and engage the spiritual life of each student in our school.
